successful trainee program celebrates its tenth birthday

“StartTechnik” celebrates its tenth birthday. 2008 saw the start of Lufthansa Technik AG’s trainee program for particularly successful graduates of university programs in engineering, industrial engineering, economics and business information technology. Over the past ten years, it has become an important instrument in attracting talented young people to Hamburg-based Lufthansa Technik. 100 young trainees have already found their way to Lufthansa Technik through the StartTechnik program.
“The application phase for the program that begins in October 2018 is currently underway,” says Elke Niemann, Head of Young Talent Programs at Lufthansa Technik.
New trainees begin twice a year, in April and October. “The new employees must complete four demanding project assignments in different, individually coordinated areas, and one of them must take place at a foreign subsidiary or associate,” says Niemann.
Trainees take on responsibility from the very beginning and quickly discover the diversity of Lufthansa Technik as a high-tech company. Regular target agreement discussions and feedback, supportive training measures and mentoring by experienced managers are fixed elements of the trainee program.
