29/06/2012 TBM 850 TO DISPLAY AT FESTIVAL OF SPEED
The fastest certified single-engine turboprop is in its element at a unique all-motorsports annual event in the United Kingdom.
As a part of its United Kingdom TBM 850 Elite demo tour, DAHER-SOCATA is showcasing its very fast turboprop at the Festival of Speed – a unique all-motorsports event held at the Goodwood estates, home to the Dukes of Richmond for over 300 years.
The TBM 850 is joining other fast transportation sources, including cars, motorbikes and airplanes on the grounds of the Goodwood House.
“This is a natural setting to meet potential future TBM customers who appreciate speed and which are located in the U.K. – home to one of Europe’s key private aircraft markets,” explained Nicolas Chabbert, Senior Vice President of the DAHER-SOCATA Airplane Division. “It also provides an opportunity to spotlight our U.K. and Ireland sales and support organizations, as well as introduce the Model Year 2012 TBM 850 Elite version –incorporating enhanced features that complement our very fast turboprop aircraft’s unique cost/performance ratio.”
TBM aircraft sales for the U.K. and Ireland are now handed by Mark Diaz, DAHER-SOCATA’s Airplane Division Director of International Sales, who also is a TBM demonstration pilot. He is assisted by the team at Aura Aviation – a TBM Authorized Sales Representative based at Oxford Airport.
TBM 850 support in this market is under the care of two long-established service centers: ASG Ltd. in Guernsey (Channel Islands) and MCA Aviation Ltd, based at Shoreham Airport (West Sussex).
DAHER-SOCATA’s TBM 850 is the world’s fastest single-engine turboprop, with a maximum cruise speed of 320 KTAS at 26,000 ft. (in ISA conditions). As an 850-shp. version of DAHER-SOCATA’s proven six-seat TBM 700 turboprop business aircraft, the TBM 850 combines cruise speeds and travel times typical of light jets with the economical direct operating costs of a turboprop, along with excellent range and payload capacity.
The Model Year 2012 TBM 850 Elite offers a unique capability to tailor the passenger cabin to meet operators’ needs. Its middle seats can be oriented in a forward-facing position while the rear seats are removable. In about 30 minutes, the TBM 850 can be reconfigured in a four-seat cabin, increasing the luggage volume capacity by three and doubling the maximum luggage weight.
DAHER-SOCATA also offers a new carbon fiber edging for the aircraft, and the options list includes Garmin’s GSR 56 Iridium satellite transceiver – providing worldwide access to quality on-demand weather information and text/voice communications.
Moreover, DAHER-SOCATA has extended its Exclusive Maintenance Program to cover scheduled maintenance costs for the original retail customer through the aircraft’s fifth annual inspection, or up to 1,000 total flight hours – whichever comes first.
Since its 2005 launch, the TBM 850 has become an international success – with more than 271 aircraft delivered as of May 31, 2012. The combined TBM 700 and TBM 850 fleet now stands at 595 units worldwide.
