ROCKWELL COLLINS HGS GETS CHALLENGER 605 CERTIFICATION
Rockwell Collins has received FAA certification of its HGS-6605 Head-Up Guidance System (HGS) used as a head-up display for Bombardier’s Challenger 605*jet. The HGS-6605 was developed together with the Enhanced Vision System (EVS) by Rockwell Collins.
“Challenger 605 jet operators that select the HGS and EVS options will experience increased operational efficiency, enhanced situational awareness and new levels of safety in low-visibility conditions,” said Dave Austin, senior director, Head-Up Guidance Systems for Rockwell Collins. “This certification marks the continuation of a long and successful history of Rockwell Collins HGS on Bombardier aircraft.”
The Rockwell Collins HGS-6605 featuring advanced active-matrix liquid crystal display technology presents critical flight information in the pilot's forward field of view. Aircraft flight path and attitude symbols overlay the outside scene and provide the benefits of enhanced situational awareness, improved energy management and increased touchdown precision.
Additional features include:
· Wide head-up display field-of-view (42 degrees horizontal by 30 degrees vertical) and exceptional display brightness and contrast
· EVS capability
· Crosswind and windshear indications to enable more accurate flight path control while keeping pilots’ attention focused outside the windscreen
· An inertial flight path vector that provides instantaneous indication of the airplane’s path
· Intuitive unusual attitude recovery and Terrain Collision Avoidance System symbology
· Synthetic vision system (SVS) capability capable as a growth feature
