ROCKWELL COLLINS HAZARD DETECTION SYSTEM WINS AWARD
The Rockwell Collins Multiscan™ Hazard Detection system has received the 2010 Aviation Technology Achievement Award. The award, which is sponsored by Air Transport World® (ATW) magazine, highlights the vital role the system plays in improving the safety of flight, reducing turbulence-related injuries and boosting operational efficiency.
The award will be presented on Monday, Feb. 1 at the 2010 Singapore Airshow during the magazine’s gala dinner and awards celebration.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by a mainstay in aerospace journalism like ATW,” said Jeff Standerski, vice president and general manager, Air Transport Systems for Rockwell Collins. “We are proud of the years of hard work and innovation performed by our Multiscan team. The system has evolved from a fully automated weather radar into a sophisticated hazard detection solution that is now being used by hundred of airlines around the world.”
The Rockwell Collins MultiScanTM Hazard Detection Systemis the first and only radar that analyzes and determines actual weather hazards, not simply atmospheric moisture content to provide flight crews more accurate weather returns. The MultiScan system is derived from extensive operational experience to create a fully automatic, hands-free airborne radar system that reduces pilot workload and enhances safety and passenger comfort by minimizing unexpected turbulence encounters, and provides optimal clutter-free weather displays.
