Cessna Aircraft announced a flurry of orders at the 2008 Middle East Business Aviation show (MEBA) in Dubai. Some 10 percent of orders for its new large cabin business jet, the Citation Columbus, have come from the region. Wallan Aviation, Cessna’s authorized sales representative in the Middle East, has already resold its initial order of three Columbus aircraft and has placed a follow on order for three additional units.
Cessna Aircraft also announced that it has received an order for a Citation Sovereign business jet from Arab Wings of Jordan. The aircraft is scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2009. Founded in 1975, Arab Wings is the longest-established executive air charter operator in the Middle East. The company operates a diverse fleet of business jets and has previously enjoyed success with the Citation XLS.
Cessna said a second Citation Sovereign was delivered to Prestige Jet of Abu Dhabi. The company is also evaluating the possibility of adding a third Citation Sovereign to its fleet.
Cessna also recently delivered the first of two Citation Mustangs to new air charter operator Open Sky Aviation of Lebanon. Open Sky Aviation will start commercial operations from Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport next month, and become the first air charter operator in the Middle East to offer entry-level business jet services. Open Sky Aviation will take delivery of its second Citation Mustang in June 2009.
