GENERAL DYNAMICS AVIATION SERVICES-WESTFIELD EARNS FAA AWARD
The General Dynamics Aviation Services center in Westfield, Mass., recently received the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) 2008 Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Diamond Certificate of Excellence award. It is the 11th consecutive year the facility has been honored with the distinction.
In addition, General Dynamics Aviation Services-Westfield employees earned one Diamond, 51 Ruby, 40 Gold and 50 Silver awards for individuals. FAA representatives presented the awards during a ceremony on July 10 at the Westfield facility.
The AMT program was established in 1992 to recognize FAA-certified aviation mechanics and their employers for participating in supplemental aviation maintenance training and other continuing-education courses.
The Diamond Certificate is the higher of the FAA’s two award levels for employers. It is awarded to organizations with 100 percent participation in the FAA’s maintenance training program. Examples of approved training include FAA and industry training seminars and on-the-job technical training or college-level courses in mathematics, science or management.
