EMBRAER SEES LIGHT AT END OF TUNNEL
Embraer announced its revised business aircraft deliveries at EBACE on Monday. The Brazilian airframer predicts that the market will recover by 2012, if the economy picks up next year and sales revive. According to Luis Carlos Affonso, Embraer executive vice-president for executive aviation, the increase in output will rise at a more measured pace over the next 10 years.
The forecasts are markedly different to those of NBAA last year, when the airframer believed backlogs would sustain deliveries. Instead people cancelled or postponed their slots. Embraer says European business jet traffic has dropped by 23%, while the US is down by a third.
The company's revised forecast now calls for 11,000 business jets to be delivered over the next 10 years, a drop of 2,000 from its NBAA forecasts. The main growth comes from emerging markets, especially in Asia.
The company says it is still committed to its program developments with entry into service for the Phenom 300 slated for this year, and the Legacy 500 and 450 in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
