ARINC TO INTRODUCE vMUSE ENTERPRISE TO EUROPE
The EMEA Division of ARINC Incorporated will introduce the company’s newly launched common use check-in solution—vMUSE EnterpriseSM—at Passenger Terminal Expo in Brussels, Belgium, March 23-25, at Stand 1090.
vMUSE Enterprise dramatically reduces the hardware and support requirements of common-use check-in by running on servers in the ARINC processing center. This removes the need for costly on-site servers, dedicated telecommunications lines, and technical support to configure and maintain a local network. Airports and airlines can achieve significant cost savings while gaining increased operational flexibility.
For users who prefer to manage their own technology, the system can also be deployed in an airport core room. Either hosted or on-site versions represent a major advance in cost-effective, common-use technology, offering fast and reliable system access, and secure transmission.
Virgin Atlantic recently became the launch customer for vMUSE Enterprise, deploying the hosted version when it launched scheduled service at Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
vMUSE Enterprise is designed to run on standard PCs, laptops, or thin-client hardware, with access to the core application at an ARINC processing center via an Internet connection. This reduced need for hardware allows passenger check-in services to be supported anywhere in the airport, or at off-airport locations..
Hosted vMUSE Enterprise combines the security and reliability of ARINC’s industry-leading MUSE® (Multi-User System Environment) with advanced virtual technology. Agents are connected to their “virtualized” workstations via a standard Internet connection, local Wi-Fi access, or broadband mobile card. Airlines and airports of any size can launch the hosted service in a matter of minutes—ideal for small and seasonal airports, parking terminals, rental car facilities, transit stations, and other venues.
The on-site option can be installed as a turnkey solution at any airport or data center of the user’s choice. Substantial savings can still be gained through the lower equipment cost and power usage, yielding a greener IT solution. The on-site option is ideal for large airports who provide services to remote terminals and off-site check-ins.
“The benefits of vMUSE Enterprise are very tangible in terms of cost reduction, power reduction and operational flexibility—all things that our customers require,” says Will Faas, ARINC Product Management, Airport Systems.
