10 YEARS RUNNING, HARTFORD SERVICE CENTER RECEIVES DIAMOND AWARD
Bombardier Aerospace today announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has once again recognized Bombardier’s Hartford Business Aircraft Service Center for its commitment to the training of its technical workforce.
For the 10th consecutive year, the Hartford Service Center has received the FAA’s Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Diamond Certificate of Excellence Award. The Diamond Certificate is the highest of the FAA’s two award levels for employers.
“At Bombardier, we believe in training our technicians to be the most competent and knowledgeable in the industry on our aircraft and technical procedures,” says Michael McQuay, president, Bombardier Aircraft Service Centers. “This tenth consecutive diamond award not only validates our commitment to excellence, but helps ensure our customers benefit from the highest quality maintenance support for their aircraft.”
Established in 1992, the AMT program was developed to recognize FAA-certified aviation mechanics and their employers for participating in supplemental aviation training and other continuing education courses. 213 employees from the Hartford Service Center participated in the FAA training program in 2008, with 12 receiving bronze, 70 receiving silver, 76 receiving gold, 42 receiving ruby and 13 receiving diamond certification. In addition to the employer award, the FAA recognized each individual aviation technician based on the number of training hours completed during the year.
Focused on creating a safe and rewarding workplace, each employee at Bombardier’s factory-owned Service Centers performs a minimum of 40 hours of training per year.
