20/09/2016LUFTHANSA TECHNIK AND MTU AERO ENGINES EXPLORING SETTING UP A JOINT MAINTENANCE

Lufthansa Technik and MTU Aero Engines are looking into options to jointly provide maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for the PW1000G family of geared turbofan engines. The two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore the possibility of establishing an MRO joint venture at a globally competitive location. First decisions will be made by the end of the year.

Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies Corp. company, and Lufthansa Technik, a global leader in aircraft engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), together announced that Lufthansa Technik has signed a strategic network agreement to become a key member of the Pratt & Whitney Geared Turbofan (GTF) engine MRO network offering the full scope of MRO services on PW1100G-JM and PW1500G engines.

Lufthansa Technik has concluded a cooperation agreement with DC  Aviation Group, a leading operator of business jets in Europe. As part of the agreement signed on May 25, 2016, the two companies plan to offer their VIP customers a first-class package of services at Al Maktoum International Airport (Dubai World Central Airport).

Lufthansa Technik is introducing a new product, the Fly Away Kit, to the VVIP and Special Mission market. The Fly Away Kit is integrated in a modified LD9 Unit Load Device (ULD) and ensures the availability of important spare parts for aircraft operations by stowing them right on board.
